Information Technology Subject Matter Expert (Storage & Data Protection)

Location: Richmond, VA, United States. US work authorization and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Lead technical advisory work for enterprise SAN, NAS, object storage, backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery architecture.
• Design and maintain risk assessment frameworks, disaster recovery runbooks, failover validation methods, and continuity planning across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Architect and manage NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, and Brocade Fibre Channel infrastructure throughout its lifecycle.
• Oversee Cohesity DataProtect, Veritas NetBackup, AWS S3/Glacier, Azure Blob/Backup, and OCI data protection operations.
• Implement ransomware mitigation, immutability, encryption, DISA STIG, and IAVA controls while supporting audit readiness.
• Automate provisioning, capacity forecasting, backup policy enforcement, and operational workflows using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and IaC; mentor engineering teams and prepare technical documentation.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret security clearance, IT-I / Critical-Sensitive determination, and Tier 5 SSBI investigation are required.
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification and at least one relevant computing environment certification are required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressive enterprise IT engineering experience, including SAN/NAS administration, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, FCoE, LUN provisioning, NFS/SMB, and storage arrays.
• Experience with DoD or federal environments, Cohesity, Veritas NetBackup, commercial cloud storage, DISA STIGs, IAVAs, Windows Server, RHEL, MPIO, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL.
• At least two years in a technical lead or advisory role, with strong technical communication and executive presentation skills.
