Systems Engineer III (VMware/Commvault)

Location: Remote within approximately a 70-mile radius of offices in Louisville, Kentucky; Birmingham, Alabama; Charlotte, North Carolina; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Allen, Texas; Lenexa, Kansas; Springfield, Missouri; or Monett, Missouri. The position is listed as hybrid and may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding.

What you will do

• Design and develop complex system architectures that meet business and performance requirements.
• Support hypervisor and data protection infrastructure, including VMware and Commvault environments.
• Plan and execute testing, troubleshoot issues, and recommend system fixes.
• Implement security controls and ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and industry standards.
• Manage system configurations, document changes, and oversee transitions into production.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of data protection and disaster recovery experience.
• At least 3 years of hypervisor experience.
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting tools for automation.
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience and the ability to troubleshoot scripts, code, and automation workflows.
• Experience contributing independently to projects and participating in an on-call rotation.
• Must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of one of the listed US office locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zerto or other disaster recovery tools.
• Experience building self-service or request-based workflows.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms or storage concepts.
• Experience with APIs, GitHub or other source control tools, Terraform, or Ansible.
