Control and Automation Engineering Trainee

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; work in the Mississauga office with opportunities in other offices and project job sites, including remote sites

Salary: $81,000–$84,000 per year

What you will do

• Complete control and automation engineering design deliverables independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare instrumentation and control criteria, communication network designs, P&IDs, engineering lists, and electrical and control system drawings.
• Develop procurement packages, technical specifications, bid evaluations, vendor data reviews, and control system architecture.
• Program PLC and DCS systems according to project requirements.
• Develop factory acceptance test and software acceptance test procedures.
• Support senior engineers through design and quality reviews, site inspections, and walkdowns, with travel to office and construction sites.

Requirements

• Must be graduating in 2027 or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Knowledge of engineering and business fundamentals, with strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively, adapt to change, and take on new challenges.
• Technical experience with control systems design, databases, programming, data-centric design tools, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Previous co-op or work-term experience in controls, automation, or electrical engineering design and execution is considered an asset.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, including remote locations.
