Commercial Underwriting Manager (Banking)

Location: Fully onsite at 333 S Grand Ave, Suites 3580, Los Angeles, CA 90071

Salary: $130,000–$190,000 per year, with possible performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Oversee workflow for commercial credit underwriting and loan portfolio management within an assigned market.
• Direct the preparation of credit authorizations, commitment letters, declinations, needs letters, and other lending documents.
• Review credit requests, make recommendations to Credit Administrators, and administer complex credit assignments.
• Manage commercial loan portfolio quality, servicing requests, deteriorating files, annual reviews, and audit exceptions.
• Lead, hire, train, coach, and evaluate Credit Analysts, Commercial Underwriters, and Loan Portfolio Managers.
• Coordinate with Credit Administration, Internal Asset Review, Relationship Managers, and other departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• 4–7 years of commercial underwriting, loan portfolio management, or related experience.
• 4–7 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting, loan documentation, appraisal, closing processes, commercial loan portfolios, and bank policies.
• Ability to interpret credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, financial ratios, tables, and charts.
• Strong leadership, analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SBA credit and environmental policies, SBA lending and eligibility standards, and SBA documentation.
• Experience with Word, Excel, T-Soft, and FileMaker Pro.
• Experience leading credit analyst internships or teaching coursework as a subject matter expert.
