Commercial Credit Senior Associate (ABL)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America; eligible to sit within M&T Bank's footprint and work from a corporate office.

Salary: $119,500–$199,100 annual USD

What you will do

• Underwrite new commercial credit requests and material modifications from deal screening through approval and the life of the loan.
• Manage portfolio credit risk through annual reviews, interim updates, covenant monitoring, problem-loan management, and early-warning indicators.
• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, due diligence, credit reports, industry research, and peer data.
• Build cash-flow analyses, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivities, financial models, and guarantor statement analyses.
• Recommend risk ratings, transaction structures, terms, conditions, controls, collateral, and guarantors.
• Partner with relationship managers, present analyses in credit discussions, and lead transaction execution with Commercial Credit Analysts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, plus 5 years of commercial credit or relevant financial analysis experience; alternatively, 9 years of combined higher education and work experience including 5 relevant years.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, credit metrics, ratio interpretation, and trend analysis.
• Ability to understand and negotiate legal documentation, perform structural analysis, and independently structure transactions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, accuracy, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer-facing role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of commercial credit regulatory and policy requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, or Bloomberg.
• Experience training junior or newly hired analysts.
