Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $75,000–$120,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and build electrical ground support equipment for spacecraft avionics, including COTS instrument setups, custom test boxes, panels, cabling, and harnesses.
• Develop LabVIEW interfaces and virtual instruments for instrument control and telemetry, plus Python and/or Perl automation scripts.
• Integrate test systems with embedded computers, analog and digital I/O, command and data handling systems, and power-switching use cases.
• Write integration and test plans, environmental test plans, acceptance test procedures, schematics, and configuration-controlled bills of materials.
• Execute functional and environmental test campaigns, troubleshoot anomalies, and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with systems, firmware, manufacturing test, and program management teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of aerospace or defense test engineering experience with ownership of EGSE hardware, software, and documentation.
• Production-grade experience with LabVIEW, or embedded C, or Python and/or Perl for test automation and data handling.
• Experience selecting and integrating COTS instruments such as power supplies, loads, data acquisition equipment, and oscilloscopes.
• Experience designing custom test fixtures, cable assemblies, schematics, and parts lists.
• Strong debugging skills across analog and digital interfaces, including reading schematics and interpreting telemetry.
• Ability to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ and access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with VxWorks, cPCI single-board computers, command and data handling architectures, or EPS power systems.
• VHDL/FPGA interface testing experience.
• Cable and harness design knowledge, including EMI/EMC, shielding, and grounding practices.
• Experience with Intercept Mozaix or similar schematic, BOM, and document-control tools.
• Environmental test support experience, including thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing.
