Research Technician (Biochemistry)

Location: Oxford Road, Manchester, United Kingdom. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Provide laboratory support for protein and amyloid preparation, buffer preparation and related experiments.
• Support protein-protein interaction studies, including surface plasmon resonance experiments and other assays.
• Analyse, organise and present experimental data for reports, publications and presentations.
• Manage laboratory stocks, procurement, housekeeping and the safe operation of facilities.
• Support laboratory inductions, equipment use, health and safety compliance, risk assessments and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related biological science subject, or equivalent qualifications with substantial laboratory experience.
• Practical laboratory experience in biochemistry, cell biology or a related biological science discipline.
• Experience with cell culture, protein-protein interaction assays or related molecular biology techniques.
• Strong organisational, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Right to work in the UK is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with surface plasmon resonance or other protein-binding techniques.
• Experience preparing standard operating procedures and laboratory risk assessments.
• Experience using scientific and analytical software packages.
• Willingness to support laboratory training and induction activities.
