Senior Software Engineer - Commercial Services (Java)

Location: Remote in the United States

Salary: $125,600–$157,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead design and implementation decisions for commercial services and sales order processing systems.
• Design, build, maintain, troubleshoot, and expand highly available backend microservices and business integrations.
• Develop event-driven services, GraphQL APIs, and message-processing workflows.
• Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders throughout ideation, design, release, operation, and maintenance.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices, including AI tooling.
• Drive quality initiatives and collaborate with QA engineering teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience focused on secure, scalable backend services.
• Advanced Java and Spring Boot expertise, including Spring Data and Spring Security.
• Strong experience with event-driven architecture, Apache Kafka, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs in Java and working with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and DynamoDB.
• Experience with AWS services, Docker, Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Must be based in the United States for the remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience working with remote and hybrid teams, including overseas contractors.
• Experience with test-driven development, domain-driven development, and AI processes for the software development lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Claude, Cursor, MCPs, AI agents, and related tooling.
