Hardware NPI / Debug Engineer (AI Networking)

Location: Santa Clara, CA, USA; travel to contract manufacturing sites in Mexico, Malaysia, and Vietnam is required.

Base salary: $120,000–$165,000 per year. Estimated total annual compensation, including bonus and equity: $200,000–$400,000.

What you will do

• Lead early prototype builds with Hardware, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams through field-trial readiness.
• Drive Design for Excellence activities, including DFM, DFT, DFQ, and DFR, through schematic and layout reviews.
• Perform system-level debugging, root-cause analysis, repairs, and technical diagnostics for complex networking hardware.
• Work with high-density PCBs, advanced interconnects, high-performance ASICs, thermal management systems, and optical and flyover cable assemblies.
• Partner with internal engineering and platform design teams and mentor contract manufacturing partners on production and quality standards.

Requirements

• BSEE degree required; MSEE strongly preferred, with a solid electrical engineering foundation and mechanical aptitude.
• 0–5+ years of experience in Hardware, NPI, Sustaining, or Test Engineering in networking, AI, GPU, or computing industries.
• Experience with system-level debugging, root-cause analysis, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Knowledge of IPC and JEDEC standards, complex fab structures such as VIPPO and backdrill, and electromechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret schematics, board layouts, mechanical drawings, datasheets, command-line logs, and diagnostic data.
• English fluency is required; passport readiness and ability to travel to Mexico, Malaysia, and Vietnam are required.

Nice to have

• Spanish and/or Vietnamese fluency.
• Experience with mechanical systems and contract manufacturing environments.
• Ability to mentor factory-level technical staff and drive manufacturing improvements independently.
