Gear Cutter - Night Shift (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. The role follows a day-shift pattern during the training period before moving to the night shift.

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and monitor conventional and CNC gear shapers and hobbers.
• Cut precise internal and external gear teeth and splines.
• Install gear shaper cutters, align workpieces, and adjust stroke, speed, and feed parameters.
• Perform first-off inspections and complete quality documentation.
• Inspect finished gears using micrometers, vernier calipers, and Kling gear-testing equipment.
• Work to exceptionally close tolerances required for aerospace manufacturing.

Requirements

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• More than 5 years of experience with different gear-cutting and gear-shaper machines, including LFS and Lorenz.
• Previous engineering or manufacturing experience, ideally in aerospace.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and machine-tool setup.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and gear data.
• BPSS clearance must be obtained and maintained.
