Staff Software Engineer - High Level OS (Automotive)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; Palo Alto, CA; or Detroit, MI. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States.

Salary: $218,240–$327,360 USD annual base salary in California. Actual pay depends on location, experience, education, training, and skills.

What you will do

• Lead BSP architecture for multiple embedded Linux platforms.
• Define Linux platform requirements with systems engineering teams.
• Design, develop, and maintain custom bootchains and Linux OS components for ADAS platforms.
• Design and implement recovery boot workflows and secure boot mechanisms.
• Ensure Linux OS compliance with system requirements across the ADAS organization.
• Act as architectural lead for the BSP team and collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; equivalent master’s or PhD experience accepted.
• Significant experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded, Buildroot, or similar Linux packaging technologies.
• Experience developing Linux device drivers for Ethernet, GPU, PCIe, UFS, eMMC, or OSPI devices.
• Bootloader experience with technologies such as U-Boot or UEFI, plus OTA update experience.
• Experience with Secure Boot, DM-Verity, FSCrypt, and other production-security technologies.
• Strong C++ embedded systems experience and a track record of technical leadership in automotive or related products taken to production.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of system-level or embedded software development experience.
• Experience with OP-TEE Trusted Applications, Arm Trusted Firmware, and heterogeneous multi-processor SoC platforms.
• Experience with GoogleTest, developer tools and infrastructure, Python, Bazel, and Docker.
