Data Engineer I (AWS, Databricks)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; the role does not support H-1B, TN, or Forms I-983/STEM OPT.

Salary: $109,300–$180,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and operationalize complex data solutions and pipelines for enterprise analytics.
• Design data transformations, analyze source systems, and recommend data cleansing and quality improvements.
• Apply data governance, security, and quality practices across data products.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
• Analyze and resolve data and system defects and incidents of moderate complexity.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver data products and educate end users on the analytics environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least two additional years of software or data engineering experience; the preferred profile lists six years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, DynamoDB, and Athena.
• Experience with Databricks Notebooks, Jobs, Unity Catalog, Genie, Autoloader, streaming, and near-real-time processing.
• Programming, testing, CI/CD, version control, debugging, communication, and intermediate leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI tools and concepts such as Claude and developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Familiarity with Jira, GitHub, Snyk, ServiceNow, and Autosys.
