Maintenance Technician I

Location: On-site in Fairmont, Nebraska, United States. Continuous plant operation may require 12-hour shifts and call-in availability.

What you will do

• Perform safe repairs, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting across plant equipment and process systems.
• Maintain boilers, cooling towers, water filtration systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, centrifuges, compressors, heat exchangers, conveyors, fans, and blowers.
• Operate and maintain DCS-controlled processes, use Maximo to order materials and document maintenance work, and manage spare-part inventory.
• Perform Lock Out Tag Out procedures, welding, cutting, fabrication, concrete work, and repairs to piping and structural equipment.
• Operate industrial vehicles and equipment, including telehandlers, skid steers, tractors, aerial lifts, forklifts, payloaders, and Trackmobiles.
• Train maintenance team members, coordinate with other departments, and support safety, environmental compliance, food safety, and product quality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Documented successful performance as a Maintenance Technician I or equivalent maintenance experience required.
• Experience with fabrication, welding, cutting, pumps, gearboxes, fans, valves, conveyors, boiler operations, water chemistry, preventative maintenance, and piping repair preferred.
• Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, indoors and outdoors, and in temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit while using required PPE.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen; random drug and alcohol testing applies during employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with concrete work, hydraulics, pneumatics, fluid processes, instrumentation, electrical systems, and schematic drawings.
• Experience with boiler operations, water chemistry, and industrial material-handling systems.
