Department Leader, Operations Trainer (Manufacturing)

Location: Opelika, Alabama, United States; onsite work in manufacturing, warehouse, and production environments

Salary: $80,000–$133,000 annual national target base pay. California and New York metro range: $88,000–$146,000.

What you will do

• Partner with site leadership and cross-functional teams to define capability needs and workforce development roadmaps.
• Build scalable capability frameworks for operators, technicians, leaders, and trainers, including cross-training and succession-readiness initiatives.
• Identify capability gaps affecting safety, quality, OEE, throughput, schedule attainment, case fill rate, workforce flexibility, and startup readiness.
• Lead, coach, and develop Training Specialists and Coordinators while managing priorities and team performance.
• Standardize onboarding, qualification, training governance, and capability metrics across shifts, departments, and sites.
• Integrate Lean and continuous improvement methods, including Kaizen events, BRPS, RCA, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 4–6 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, learning and development, operations, continuous improvement, or organizational capability.
• Experience designing technical end-user training for multiple complex projects and managing projects.
• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Training Within Industry, adult learning principles, and structured problem solving.
• Ability to develop technical training materials, job aids, online help materials, course content, and presentation materials for manufacturing operations.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; immigration sponsorship or support is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio, and related software.
• TWI trainer certification, which must be obtained within two years of employment.
