Backend Engineer III (Data Validation)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, operating on Eastern Time from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern. Occasional travel for training and project meetings is expected at less than 5% per year.

Salary: $90,300–$124,000 per year

What you will do

• Validate backend data and ETL processes across Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and other large-scale data platforms.
• Analyze CMS datasets and validate data from the Integrated Data Repository and OnePI systems used in Fraud Prevention System workflows.
• Perform backend-to-frontend comparison testing across databases, UI applications, and Databricks Unity Catalog outputs.
• Execute load, stress, volume, and performance tests; benchmark processing throughput and recommend query optimizations.
• Create and maintain backend test plans, performance strategies, validation scenarios, API tests, defect reports, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with analysts, DBAs, developers, DevOps engineers, and Agile delivery teams while supporting quality practices and mentoring test teams.

Requirements

• Must meet U.S. Federal Government public trust clearance requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or qualify through the Foreign National Government System, including having lived in the United States for at least 3 of the previous 5 years and holding valid passport and visa/work permit documentation.
• 4+ years of backend data validation and performance testing experience in large-scale data environments, including Databricks and Snowflake.
• Experience with workload analysis, query optimization, data pipeline performance evaluation, and API-based validation.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Agile, SAFe, or similar software development methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to independently prioritize work and deliver comprehensive test documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with TestRail and CMS programs.
• Experience with Tableau or Grafana for visualization, dashboards, and performance monitoring.
• Security or penetration testing experience with Burp Suite or Postman.
• Section 508 accessibility testing with JAWS or similar tools.
