Senior Engineering Manager — Hotels.com Technology (AI)

What you will do

• Lead an engineering team building and operating highly available, performant, secure customer-facing services for Hotels.com.
• Own technical direction, system design, API design, data modeling, delivery, and long-term architecture across evolving product areas.
• Remain hands-on through design reviews, code reviews, prototyping, production debugging, and technical decision-making.
• Set standards for software quality, reliability, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Develop engineers and managers, broaden technical capability across domains and stacks, and build an inclusive, high-performing team.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions and coordinate complex delivery across Product, Design, Data, Marketing, Platform, and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent level; a technical degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience owning production services or multi-service systems end to end, from design and implementation through deployment and operations.
• Current hands-on engineering experience with programming, system design, API design, data modeling, testing, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience coaching engineers across unfamiliar domains, stacks, or disciplines.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products, including safe integration and operation.

• Experience leading distributed systems at scale and setting technical direction across broad areas.
• Technical breadth across multiple stacks or domains, including backend, frontend, web, or native mobile.
• Experience with high-traffic consumer e-commerce or marketplace products, experimentation, conversion, and customer engagement.
• Experience improving reliability, performance, cost efficiency, observability, incident management, and on-call practices.
• Experience integrating personalization, ranking, recommendations, or intelligent automation into production systems at scale.
