TL;DR
Compiler Engineering Undergraduate Intern - SYCL Runtime (SYCL): Developing and optimizing Intel's open-source compiler stack through application analysis, issue triage, and compiler feature development with an accent on C++, OpenMP, SYCL, and heterogeneous CPU/GPU performance. Focus on investigating compiler defects, building reproductions, implementing middle-end and back-end optimizations, and evaluating vectorization and runtime performance.

Location: Toronto, Canada. The role follows hirify.global's hybrid work model, with at least four days per week on-site once the Toronto office is operational.

What you will do

  • Analyze and triage performance issues in C++, OpenMP, and SYCL applications and benchmarks.
  • Investigate compiler defects, prepare reproductions, and track bug submissions.
  • Contribute to compiler middle-end and back-end development, including scalar and loop optimization and vectorization.
  • Run functional, performance, and stress-testing experiments to identify product improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-geography engineering and validation teams on product quality and performance.
  • Engage with open-source compiler communities and contribute to industry solutions.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures through internships, academic projects, coursework, or training.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows command-line environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with compiler technologies, code optimization, parallel programming models such as OpenMP, CUDA, or SYCL, and heterogeneous computing is preferred.
