TL;DR
Compiler Engineer (LLVM): Developing open-source compiler features for Intel's oneAPI software stack and enabling new language standards across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators with an accent on LLVM, Clang, code generation, and compiler optimization. Focus on building compiler components, contributing upstream to open-source projects, and solving complex performance and portability challenges for AI and HPC workloads.

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Annual salary: CAD 155,888–220,069, depending on location and experience.

What you will do

  • Develop new features for Intel's open-source compiler stack and support the latest language standards.
  • Build and improve LLVM-based C, C++, SYCL, and Fortran compiler components.
  • Work on compiler optimization passes, code generation, and frontend integration.
  • Collaborate with the Clang open-source community and contribute solutions upstream.
  • Support performance, scalability, and portability across CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Informatics, or a related technical field with 5+ years of experience, or a master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Professional experience with C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures.
  • Hands-on compiler development experience using the LLVM framework.
  • Demonstrated technical contributions to open-source projects and Clang, including commits, patches, or reviews.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • Ability to work in the hybrid model from the Toronto, Canada site.

Nice to have

  • Deep understanding of C/C++ language constructs.
  • Experience with oneAPI or a similar vendor toolchain.
  • Participation in C, C++, Khronos, or other standards committees.
