Senior, Software Engineer - Back End (Distributed Systems)

Location: Full-time onsite role at the Walmart office in Sunnyvale, California, United States; not eligible for remote work

Salary: $117,000–$234,000 annual base salary, plus performance-based bonuses and potential stock compensation

hirify.global develops technology supporting Walmart’s eCommerce and supply chain operations, including distributed systems for high-volume transaction processing and disruption monitoring.

What you will do

• Analyze, classify, scope, and estimate business and technical requirements.
• Design scalable software solutions and translate high-level designs into detailed functional modules.
• Develop maintainable, testable, secure code across multiple platforms and programming languages.
• Create and execute tests, investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and support regression testing.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high availability and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Expertise in software architecture, scalable distributed systems, and design patterns.
• Strong object-oriented programming and coding standards experience with JavaScript, Python, or C.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, automation scripting, and telemetry.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs and user stories.
• Experience with code review, debugging, defect management, testing methodologies, and defect lifecycle processes.
• At least 3 years of software engineering experience with a relevant bachelor’s degree, or 5 years of software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant computer science or software engineering field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
