Senior Core Developer (AI)

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $190,000–$225,000 base salary per year, plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build internal core platform services, including authentication, permissions, UI frameworks, and data access layers.
• Partner with product, operations, risk, compliance, investment, and data teams to understand workflows and prioritize platform capabilities.
• Own service orchestration, observability, error handling, deployment pipelines, and shared libraries.
• Define application architecture, frontend and backend patterns, and onboarding standards for internal engineering teams.
• Build reusable frameworks that improve development speed, consistency, resilience, security, and scalability.
• Design generative AI workflows, vector database integrations, and LLM-powered services for internal application development.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a software or core platform engineer in complex, high-performance environments.
• Strong Python software engineering skills; experience with compiled languages such as C++, Java, or C# is advantageous.
• Knowledge of multithreading, high-throughput and low-latency systems, and backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Node.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud-native applications, and AWS or GCP infrastructure.
• Experience integrating generative AI and LLMs, including orchestration, RAG, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Familiarity with RBAC/ABAC, microservice architecture, service mesh patterns, cross-functional collaboration, and technical mentoring.

Nice to have

• Experience co-designing workflows with non-technical stakeholders in operations, risk, compliance, or finance.
• Exposure to low-code/no-code platforms or internal developer portals.
• Experience building application platforms or shared component libraries in fast-growing organizations.
• Knowledge of operational or risk-related workflows in hedge funds, financial institutions, or similarly regulated industries.
