Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op (Quality)

Location: On-site in Aurora, Illinois, United States; Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., January through June

What you will do

• Create and update SOPs, batch cards, response flow checklists, and operator work instructions for Slurries manufacturing lines.
• Audit documentation against current production-floor practices, identify gaps, and manage updates through review and approval.
• Support quality investigations and root-cause analysis for nonconformances, customer complaints, scrap, and rework.
• Analyze process and quality data, identify variation and improvement opportunities, and help build dashboards or reports.
• Support audit readiness, document control, training records, and change documentation.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams and present results to Slurries leadership.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Available to work 40 hours per week on-site in Aurora, IL for the six-month Spring 2027 co-op assignment.
• Strong technical writing, organization, attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort with data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or similar.
• Must be familiar with university requirements for participation in a co-op program.

Nice to have

• Coursework or project experience in quality engineering, statistics, data analytics, or machine learning.
• Exposure to Six Sigma, statistical process control, or quality systems.
• Experience interviewing operators and presenting technical findings.
