What you will do

• Set the technical direction, standards, and roadmap for the AI Team.
• Lead production ML workflows supporting genomic, phenotypic, and multi-omic predictions for scientists.
• Define model evaluation and validation against experimental and field outcomes.
• Drive applied AI solutions including foundation models, GenAI, RAG, and agentic systems.
• Manage, mentor, and develop ML engineers while coordinating focused contractor engagements.
• Represent the AI Team in Data & AI Strategy discussions and remain hands-on with complex technical problems.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related field, or a BS with equivalent experience, plus 7+ years in ML, AI, or related technical roles.
• Production experience with ML models and pipelines, including advanced Python and scientific computing.
• Experience training and deploying neural networks with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
• Practical experience with AWS, SageMaker, Docker, MLflow, Airflow, or equivalent tools.
• Experience leading technical teams, owning modeling roadmaps, and influencing cross-functional decisions.
• Strong practical understanding of foundation models, RAG, agentic workflows, and biological data, with clear communication across scientific and engineering functions.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, biotech, AgTech, or another scientific domain.
• Familiarity with genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, trait prediction, functional genomics, or network-based modeling.
• Experience fine-tuning foundation models and delivering production RAG, agentic, model-serving, or agent integration systems.
• Familiarity with AWS SageMaker, MLflow, AWS Bedrock AgentCore, MCPs, or similar platforms.
