What you will do

  • Support waste stream certification, disposition planning, nuclear materials transfer, transportation, packaging, storage, and characterization for the FRNP Deactivation Project.
  • Coordinate daily packaging and waste disposition activities with waste engineering, operations, radiological control, safety, quality assurance, security, and field labor organizations.
  • Collect and maintain container documentation, including disposal requests, container logs, radiological surveys, dose readings, and characterization records.
  • Support the establishment, inspection, and maintenance of temporary, generator, and CERCLA waste storage areas.
  • Inspect, sort, label, package, and document waste materials in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate container movement, storage, treatment, authorization basis activities, and off-site shipment preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; typical experience is one to four years.
  • Knowledge of nuclear facility operations and DOE nuclear facility safety requirements.
  • Experience or capability with Microsoft software, documentation, coordination, and detailed recordkeeping.
  • Current DOE L or Q clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
  • US citizenship is required due to government contract and clearance requirements.
  • Ability to work in hazardous, confined, high-noise, radiological, chemical, outdoor, and temperature-extreme environments while performing physically demanding tasks.

Nice to have

  • Experience with waste packaging, container management, waste characterization documentation, radiological surveys, or waste storage areas in a DOE nuclear facility.
  • Experience coordinating across waste engineering, operations, Radiological Control, Environment, Safety and Health, Quality Assurance, Security, and field labor organizations.
