Engineer / Senior Engineer - Equipment (Medical Devices)

Location: Onsite in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia

What you will do

• Lead maintenance technicians and coordinate preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and after-hours technical support.
• Own highly automated assembly and manufacturing equipment, maintaining machine performance, reliability, and uptime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and automation-related equipment.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs, manage spare parts, and drive continuous equipment improvement.
• Conduct 8D root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions, and support customer complaint investigations with technical reports.
• Lead equipment upgrades, obsolescence, component replacement, and technician training initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting highly automated assembly equipment, preferably in medical device manufacturing.
• Experience leading maintenance or equipment technicians and working independently with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, vision systems, industrial automation, and pneumatic systems, including Festo and SMC components.
• Experience with root cause analysis, customer complaint investigations, technical reporting, 8D methodology, and technical training.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; experience with equipment upgrades, obsolescence, migration, or industrial robotics is advantageous.
