Technician 1, Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance (Automation)

Location: Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia; onsite at the Penang SDSM Office in Seberang Perai. The role requires 12-hour rotating shifts.

What you will do

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic automation equipment issues.
• Repair or replace faulty components, conduct calibrations, and adjust equipment for accuracy.
• Respond to breakdowns, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate repair records.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams and support daily shift operations.
• Assist senior technicians, subject-matter experts, and engineers with equipment upgrades and improvements.

Requirements

• Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or SKM Phase 3, or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems and familiarity with technical instructions and work procedures.
• Ability to perform basic checks, monitoring, routine operations, and preventive maintenance under supervision.
• Basic troubleshooting knowledge for automation equipment, PLCs, and robotics.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts in the manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions, support shift teams, and escalate equipment issues when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation equipment such as automated robotic storage systems, automatic robotic vehicles, ARV, ARS, or turntables.
• Familiarity with computing and computer systems.
