Software Engineer II – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Python Backend)

Location: London, United Kingdom; must commute to London 2–3 days per week

Salary: £58,000–£87,000 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan short-term incentive.

What you will do

• Own well-scoped backend and service work from design through production.
• Design and implement features, services, and software components with other engineers.
• Write high-quality Python code and participate in code reviews.
• Improve testability, observability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, systems, QA, clinical, domain, and engineering partners.
• Document technical decisions, interfaces, operational procedures, and system context for maintenance and handover.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily with Python.
• Strong production experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Experience designing and evolving REST APIs, including validation, error handling, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit, integration, and API-level tests with pytest.
• Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements, break down complex problems, and adapt as requirements evolve.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer and project handovers.

Nice to have

• Interest in AI-assisted or agentic coding workflows and responsible use of generated code.
• Product experience with agentic coding tools.
