English Linguist and Localization Specialist (Fintech)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom; hybrid and flexible working available from the Edinburgh office.

What you will do

• Manage and edit English user-interface text for several banking applications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, usability, and translation readiness.
• Work with development, design, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve localization issues affecting target markets.
• Manage localization projects across multiple languages, including coordination with external language service providers and management of project finances.
• Serve as the main contact between product teams and external language service providers.
• Maintain the Phrase Strings localization platform, including licence and user management.

Requirements

• Native-level English and fluent German.
• MA, DipTrans, or equivalent qualification in German-to-English translation.
• At least one additional language at minimum B2/C1 level; Arabic, Italian, or Portuguese are preferred.
• Professional experience translating or editing banking or financial content.
• Experience with software localization, source-language optimization, and UX writing.
• Experience with localization platforms, CAT tools, and AI resources, with strong organization and attention to detail.

• Interest in UX, accessibility, user journeys, and interaction design.
• Research skills and basic technical understanding of software development or localization engineering.
