TL;DR
ATR - Stress Engineer (Aerospace): Producing and validating structural stress justifications for aircraft development, production support, in-service support, repairs, and design modifications with an accent on static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analysis for metallic and composite structures. Focus on coordinating suppliers and partners, validating stress notes, applying aeronautical regulations, and supporting aircraft certification and continued airworthiness.

Location: Toulouse Area, France. The role requires professional travel in France and abroad and availability for shift work 24/7, including public holidays.

What you will do

  • Produce structural stress justifications for aircraft development, production support, in-service support, repairs, and design modifications.
  • Perform or review static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analyses for metallic and composite structures.
  • Liaise with ATR suppliers and partners to define justification methods and coordinate assigned activities.
  • Check and validate technical stress notes delivered by suppliers and partners.
  • Provide structural stress advice and technical support to the Structures department and ATR Engineering directorate.
  • Support aircraft certification, continued airworthiness, production-line issues, and in-service structural damage assessment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in aeronautical or mechanical engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural stress analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance methods for metallic and composite structures.
  • Knowledge of aeronautical regulations, including JAR/CS and FAR, and familiarity with aircraft structural manuals.
  • Familiarity with Patran/Nastran, Safe/Isami, or equivalent structural analysis tools.
  • English at B2 level or higher, including technical aeronautical English, is required.

Nice to have

  • French at B2 level.
  • Experience with aircraft production and in-service support issues.
  • Strong communication, pragmatic problem-solving, autonomy, proactivity, and results orientation.
