Global Category Manager - Machining

Location: Bath, United Kingdom; hybrid

Global flow control and instrumentation manufacturer serving industries including oil and gas, water, shipping, pharmaceuticals, and food.

What you will do

• Lead global strategy and ownership for the machining direct-materials subcategory.
• Build the three-year category roadmap, including supplier segmentation, risk management, and cost/value optimization.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and deliver improvements in on-time delivery, PPM, capacity, and supply resilience.
• Lead global negotiations, RFx processes, long-term agreements, cost models, and total-cost-of-ownership improvements.
• Drive localization, dual-sourcing, and VA/VE category projects across regional operations.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance on supplier qualification and supply continuity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of procurement or category management experience in direct materials such as metals, machine parts, fabrication, or plastic products.
• Experience leading global and regional sourcing projects and supplier negotiations.
• Strong commercial, contract management, analytical, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
• Experience balancing global strategic priorities with regional operational execution.
• Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems, Excel, and analytics.
• English speaker required. Experience in multi-site or matrix manufacturing environments is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial, mechanical, machinery, or similar supply bases.
• Knowledge of should-cost analysis, VA/VE, DfM, and supplier development.
