AI Deployment Team

Location: Hybrid in New York or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $170,000–$400,000 per year, plus eligible equity

Builds and delivers enterprise AI systems as the deployment arm of OpenAI, working with major companies to transform important business workflows using OpenAI models and products.

What you will do

• Own complex AI deployments from technical discovery through production and customer adoption.
• Build agentic applications and workflow tools using models, APIs, retrieval, orchestration, data systems, and production software practices.
• Work directly with customer teams to translate ambiguous workflows into practical systems.
• Make architecture, evaluation, reliability, safety, and production-readiness decisions.
• Prototype with real users, validate assumptions, and harden successful ideas into durable products.
• Turn deployment experience into reusable engineering and delivery patterns, sharing learnings with Product and Research partners.

Requirements

• Established group of two to five people with meaningful work already delivered together.
• Complementary strengths across engineering, product, data, AI, or technical delivery.
• Experience taking a complex product or system from an unclear starting point to a production outcome.
• Exceptional individual expertise, hands-on ownership, and the ability to solve difficult problems in complex environments.
• Clear communication, constructive disagreement, strong customer collaboration, and commitment to reliable systems.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup in New York or San Francisco.
