Senior Manager, Global Payroll

Location: Remote-based on the continental United States

Salary: $138,800–$173,500 USD annually, plus equity and subsidized benefits. Geographic pay tiers may apply.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end payroll processing for US employees across 30+ states, including bi-weekly and off-cycle runs, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, relocation, fringe benefits, and final pay.
• Coordinate international and EOR payroll through Rippling, Deel, and local providers across 11 countries.
• Manage federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, registrations, filings, amendments, agency notices, audits, and year-end reporting.
• Build payroll infrastructure for new states and countries, including EOR-versus-entity analysis and system expansion or migration.
• Manage payroll accounting, equity-related payroll treatment, reconciliations, accruals, close support, and labor-cost reporting.
• Design controls, approval workflows, documentation, calendars, automation, audit readiness, and the future payroll operating model.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on payroll experience with full-cycle US multi-state payroll ownership, including at least 2 years as the most senior payroll professional or payroll team leader.
• Direct experience administering and troubleshooting Rippling payroll, including EOR populations.
• Strong knowledge of US multi-state tax matters, including nexus, reciprocity, SUI, SDI, supplemental withholding, local levies, and agency management.
• Experience with international payroll, EOR and local-provider models, payroll accounting, equity payroll mechanics, and stock plan data.
• Experience scaling payroll operations through systems, controls, documentation, and audit readiness; CPP certification is strongly preferred.
• Must be based in the continental United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Deel, ADP, Workday, or payroll platform migrations.
• Pre-IPO, liquidity-event, SOX, IPO-readiness, or mobile-employee tax experience.
• Experience supporting a venture-backed technology company scaling beyond 500 employees and entering new countries.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and VLOOKUPs.
