Senior Payroll Manager (Rippling)

Location: Fully remote within the continental United States

Salary: $145,000–$165,000 base salary annually, plus an annual performance bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end payroll operations across two legal entities and four monthly payroll cycles for salaried and hourly employees.
• Lead the transition from a PEO to Rippling, including data migration, implementation, employee communication, and training.
• Manage federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, payments, benefits deductions, retirement contributions, and health and welfare premiums.
• Administer Rippling configuration, permissions, workflows, integrations, pay groups, deduction codes, tax jurisdictions, and general ledger mapping.
• Establish payroll controls, approval workflows, access controls, documented procedures, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Build the internal payroll function and prepare to hire, onboard, and manage a Payroll Coordinator or Specialist.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience; CPP certification is strongly preferred.
• 7–8+ years of progressive, hands-on multi-state and multi-entity payroll experience.
• Admin-level expertise with modern HRIS platforms and experience implementing systems or transitioning away from a PEO; Rippling experience is a significant plus.
• Experience with payroll tax compliance, filings, remittances, internal controls, audits, and benefits-related payroll processing.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with complex payroll and general ledger data.
• Clear communication, discretion, independent judgment, attention to detail, and readiness to mentor or manage a direct report.
