Product Development Engineer (Industrial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Design and develop industrial refrigeration products, systems, components, assemblies, and detailed mechanical drawings.
• Evaluate existing products and improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, energy efficiency, and cost.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, field trials, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Perform engineering calculations involving thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, structural integrity, and refrigeration performance.
• Develop product specifications, bills of materials, and technical documentation while supporting manufacturing, service, sales, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Manage development projects through production release, including supplier coordination, timelines, budgets, deliverables, NPI, and stage-gate processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–10+ years of engineering or product development experience, preferably in industrial refrigeration, HVAC/R, or process cooling.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and refrigeration engineering principles, refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Understanding of welding, fabrication, assembly, ERP systems, engineering documentation, and standards including IIAR, ASME, ANSI, and UL.
• Ability to access manufacturing areas and industrial job sites safely; occasional travel to job sites may be required.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with Autodesk Revit, natural refrigerants such as ammonia and CO₂, packaged refrigeration systems, or skid-mounted equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC-based control systems, refrigeration automation, product commercialization, and manufacturing scale-up.
