TL;DR
Sr. Operations Technical Trainer (Aerospace Manufacturing): Developing and delivering technical training for aerospace production, integration, testing, inspection, and quality operations with an accent on work-instruction-based instruction, OJT, skills qualification, and process compliance. Focus on building training systems, evaluating competency and training effectiveness, and solving human-factor and skill gaps through targeted retraining and process standardization.

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver technical training for assembly, integration, testing, inspection, material handling, tooling, and related operations.
  • Convert engineering drawings, work instructions, process specifications, and quality procedures into lesson plans, job aids, demonstrations, and competency checks.
  • Manage the operations training matrix, including required courses, OJT sign-offs, recertification intervals, and role-based qualifications.
  • Conduct classroom, shop-floor, and virtual instruction; qualify trainers and OJT coaches; and verify training transfer on the production floor.
  • Lead new-hire onboarding and process-change training, ensuring production teams are qualified before work is released.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observations, first-pass yield, rework indicators, and feedback, then improve content accordingly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field, or equivalent aerospace/manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical or shop-floor training through classroom, OJT, or blended formats.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, process specifications, and quality procedures.
  • Preferred experience includes space-grade materials, environmental testing for space applications, IPC workmanship standards, and NASA production, testing, and inspection standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, space, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or equivalent workmanship standards.
  • Experience with NASA standards for production build, testing, and inspection.
