Lead AI Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Louisville, KY; Nashville, TN; Tampa, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; or Dallas, TX. Onsite work is expected several days per week, with flexibility to work remotely.

Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and technical execution for strategic AI initiatives from concept through production deployment.
• Design and build scalable, secure, cloud-native AI platforms, services, APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and orchestration layers.
• Develop production applications using generative AI, large language models, intelligent document processing, and machine learning.
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to improve scalability, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Establish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning practices.
• Mentor software engineers and data scientists while supporting responsible AI governance and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Experience building and delivering large-scale, production-grade software platforms.
• Strong backend development expertise with Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience designing distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives from architecture through deployment in agile environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Production experience with AI, machine learning, generative AI, and large language models.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks, agent-based systems, and model-serving platforms.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, OCR, and intelligent document processing.
• Background in data engineering, data science, MLOps, APIs, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
