Cable Harness Assembly Technician (Marine Robotics): Installing and managing electrical cabling, connector plates, and cable runs across unmanned surface vessel platforms with an accent on wiring diagrams, traceability, waterproofing, and marine-rated reliability. Focus on routing and securing cables inside vessel hulls, diagnosing damaged wiring, performing quality inspections, and maintaining consistent assembly standards across multiple production lines.

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office). Due to export control requirements, candidates must be U.S. persons and independently authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $71,000–$80,000 per year, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

  • Install pre-built cable assemblies, connector plates, and solar panel wiring across Lightfish, Quickfish, and Heavyfish platforms.
  • Read wiring diagrams and technical drawings to verify cable-to-connector mapping and pin-outs.
  • Route, secure, label, and protect cables inside vessel hulls using strain relief, chafe protection, sealing, and waterproofing methods.
  • Diagnose and replace damaged or worn cables during rework, repairs, and field returns.
  • Perform quality inspections, document installation records and test results, and identify recurring issues.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical assembly technicians while adapting to shifting production priorities.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience installing cables, connectors, or wire assemblies into finished products.
  • Experience with cable routing and management, electrical panel wiring, wire harnesses, or similar work.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical drawings and work with multiple connector types.
  • Experience with gaskets or other sealing methods for environmental protection.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, precise repetitive assembly skills, and effective communication.
  • Must be a U.S. person and independently authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Soldering and crimping experience.
  • Background in marine, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting multiple product lines in a fast-scaling production environment.
