Summer Associate Intern (Data Scientist)

Location: Hybrid in Vienna, Virginia, United States; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM ET.

Salary: $26.44–$46.88 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop sentiment analysis models using lending call transcripts and interaction data.
• Apply natural language processing to classify and cluster member conversations and identify emerging themes.
• Prepare data, engineer features, perform exploratory analysis, and develop machine learning models using structured and unstructured sources.
• Build Power BI dashboards combining sentiment, topic, operational, volume, and member outcome metrics.
• Write scalable Python and SQL code and document methodologies, assumptions, and analytical processes.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders across Lending Strategy, Member Experience, Product, and Operations.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in a graduate-level program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with machine learning and Natural Language Processing techniques.
• Experience with data cleaning and exploratory data analysis.
• Familiarity with Power BI and Dash.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with R programming.
• Background in statistics, mathematics, or machine learning.
• Exposure to Spark, Hadoop, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Understanding of Git and version control systems.
• Intellectual curiosity and the ability to independently identify opportunities for deeper analysis.
