Co-Op, Applied Technologies (Spring 2027) (Biotechnology)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; in-person 70/30 work model. The co-op runs from January 18, 2027 through June 25, 2027, and applicants must be available for the full duration. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to export control requirements.

What you will do

• Contribute to an automation, robotics, or systems engineering project supporting CMC Development.
• Develop, configure, and test laboratory automation systems, robotic platforms, instruments, and related software.
• Execute experiments, characterize systems, troubleshoot issues, and collect performance data.
• Analyze experimental data and prepare test plans, technical documentation, diagrams, work instructions, and project summaries.
• Develop or modify scripts, workflows, automation methods, and simple software tools.
• Present project progress, technical findings, and recommendations to engineers, scientists, and other technical partners.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering, computer science, bioengineering, robotics, automation, life sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant coursework or project experience in programming, robotics, laboratory automation, electrical or mechanical systems, systems engineering, data analysis, or laboratory sciences.
• Demonstrated interest in applying engineering or digital technologies to scientific problems.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Must be available for the complete January 18–June 25, 2027 co-op period and qualify as a U.S. person.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
• Programming experience with Python, C#, JavaScript, MATLAB, or a similar language.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, liquid handlers, robotic systems, sensors, microcontrollers, or electromechanical systems.
• Familiarity with CAD, Git/version control, data visualization, or engineering analysis tools.
• Exposure to biotechnology, pharmaceutical development, machine learning, computer vision, autonomous systems, or advanced robotics.
