Summer Associate Internship (Technical Risk Analyst)

Location: Hybrid in Vienna, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; or Winchester, Virginia, United States. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.

Salary: $26.44-$46.88 per hour

What you will do

• Support risk and control identification, assessment workshops, and RCSA activities by documenting processes, risks, controls, and assessment outcomes.
• Review process documentation, narratives, procedures, and process maps to identify risks and control opportunities.
• Collect, organize, and review evidence for security control testing, documenting procedures, results, observations, and workpapers.
• Perform data analysis and validation for risk assessments, control evaluations, reporting, and GRC inventory maintenance.
• Track action items, issues, remediation efforts, and testing milestones while preparing executive-ready summaries and status reports.
• Research regulatory requirements and industry standards and collaborate with risk managers, control testers, process owners, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business, risk management, accounting, information security, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Nice to have

• Coursework or experience in audit, risk management, compliance, internal controls, or cybersecurity.
• Familiarity with COSO, NIST, FFIEC, ISO 27001, or COBIT frameworks.
• Understanding of governance, risk, and compliance concepts.
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar data analysis tools.
• Interest in internal audit, compliance, risk management, security governance, or cybersecurity careers.
