Principal 3D Character Artist (Gaming)

Riot Games develops player-focused games and interactive experiences, including an unpublished AAA game in its Research & Development organization.

What you will do

• Create the look and feel of high-fidelity 3D characters and cosmetic assets.
• Model, sculpt, texture, and optimize in-game assets for performance and animation.
• Interpret and advance concept designs while balancing technical and design constraints.
• Collaborate with art, design, engineering, animation, and other disciplines to align assets with the project vision and style guides.
• Document processes, establish quality standards, provide actionable feedback, and mentor junior character artists.

Requirements

• 8+ years of character modeling experience as a Senior or Principal Artist in the gaming industry.
• Strong experience with Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
• Extensive Unreal Engine 5+ experience.
• Deep knowledge of human anatomy, form, and color theory.
• A portfolio demonstrating a range of character styles and levels of fidelity.
• Experience collaborating across disciplines to solve visual, technical, and production challenges.

Nice to have

• Experience with cosmetic pipelines for live-service game operations.
• Experience shipping multiple games or content for multiple live games.
