Summer Associate Internship (Data Scientist)

Location: Hybrid, with work at locations in Vienna, Virginia, or Pensacola, Florida, United States. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CT.

Salary: $26.44–$46.88 per hour.

What you will do

• Analyze member adoption, engagement, transaction flows, and fund movement across ACH, Zelle, RTP, FedNow, transfers, wires, Bill Pay, and cross-border payments.
• Study member payment journeys, product combinations, usage changes, and behavioral shifts across established and emerging payment options.
• Clean, prepare, explore, and analyze large member and transaction datasets using Python, SQL, Databricks, and related analytics platforms.
• Develop analytical models, dashboards, visualizations, and statistical analyses to identify opportunities and support product decisions.
• Use Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools for research, coding, analysis, documentation, and insight development, validating generated outputs.
• Translate findings into recommendations and present insights to technical and nontechnical stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later and eligibility for a 12-week internship running from May through August 2027.
• Experience using Python, R, and/or SQL for data preparation and analysis.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis and large or complex datasets.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or comparable data visualization and business intelligence tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and business-oriented reasoning skills.

Nice to have

• Coursework or experience in statistics, machine learning, predictive analytics, or optimization.
• Experience with Spark, Databricks, cloud analytics platforms, or GitHub.
• Interest in digital payments, financial services, consumer behavior, or product analytics.
• Experience creating concise presentations or data stories for business audiences.
