Summer 2027 Corporate Intern: Economist

Salary: $25.00–$48.00 per hour

Walmart is a large retail company whose Economics team applies academic insights and analytical methods to support decision-making and business transformation.

What you will do

• Design and analyze experiments to measure the impact of potential business changes.
• Apply econometric and statistical methods to perform causal inference when experiments are not possible.
• Frame and evaluate business trade-offs to support strategic decisions under uncertainty.
• Apply behavioral economics to inform user experience design.
• Partner with business and technology teams on projects involving pricing, memberships, sustainability, and marketplace growth.

Requirements

• Must be actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree program.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Knowledge of experimentation and causal inference methods.
• Passion for economics or experience assisting with academic research.
• Curiosity, self-direction, collaboration, and interest in solving challenging problems.
• Must not require Walmart sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing large datasets.
• Experience coding in SQL, R, or Python.
