Fluid Systems Intern Spring 2027 (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time onsite for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning in January, February, or March 2027

What you will do

• Support the Fluid Systems team working on hardware between the tanks and engine for the Neutron rocket.
• Contribute to the design, building, testing, and analysis of critical fluid systems hardware.
• Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve practical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Work with mentors and department employees while providing regular progress updates.
• Participate in technical talks and professional events with interns and employees.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in Long Beach for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
• For US office work, eligibility to meet applicable ITAR requirements is required, including US citizenship, lawful permanent residency, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or the required government authorizations.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above and at least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Experience with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or propulsion.
• CAD/CAM, 3D printing, lathe machining, GD&T, or FEA experience.
