Commercial Construction Project Engineer (2027)

Location: Falls Church, Virginia; fully onsite for the 12-month training program, with commuting to jobsites within a 30–40-mile radius of the assigned office

What you will do

• Participate in a structured, paid 12-month HITT Futures training program with onsite mentoring and performance reviews every four months.
• Set up and maintain jobsite offices, construction records, project directories, daily reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, and subcontractor correspondence.
• Support construction execution through site inspections, material take-offs, supplier orders, deliveries, schedule updates, and coordination drawings.
• Assist superintendents and project managers with subcontractor meetings, logistics, budgeting, client management, and survey and layout activities.
• Support quality and safety programs through inspections, weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety reporting.
• Develop the technical and professional skills required for promotion to assistant project manager or assistant superintendent.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or an accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or business is strongly preferred.
• Previous commercial jobsite experience and a strong interest in construction and onsite work are preferred.
• Ability to learn Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, JD Edwards, and other project software.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must commit to fully onsite work and commute to jobsites within a 30–40-mile radius of the assigned office.
