Senior Counsel – Biotech Patent Law - Biosimilars

Location: United States – Remote, with possible hybrid work based at sites in Thousand Oaks, California; San Francisco, California; or Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ability to work client group hours is required, with approximately 10% domestic and global travel.

Salary: $250,321.60–$338,670.40 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and execute market access strategies for biosimilar and innovator molecules.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses covering drug substances, products, formulations, processes, and methods of treatment.
• Identify relevant patents, conduct prior-art searches, analyze third-party patents, and draft legal opinions and persuasive arguments.
• Develop global intellectual property strategies in collaboration with in-house attorneys and cross-functional business teams.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications and provide support for patent litigation and other adversarial proceedings.
• Counsel business and research groups on intellectual property strategy while managing complex projects independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

• J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least four years of intellectual property law experience and registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, communication, judgment, management, and client counseling skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritize workflow, navigate ambiguity, meet fast-paced deadlines, and manage multifaceted projects.
• Ability to work client group hours and be based in the United States for the remote role.

Nice to have

• Seven or more years of patent or intellectual property law experience.
• Experience with biotechnology intellectual property law, patent litigation, Inter Partes Reviews, Post Grant Reviews, oppositions, or global freedom-to-operate strategies.
• Scientific education or research experience in molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, structural biology, pharmaceutics, or chemical engineering.
• Advanced scientific degree such as a master’s or Ph.D.
