Accounting and Financial Reporting Consultant (Federal Government)

Location: Hybrid role requiring on-site work 2–3 days per week in Alexandria, Virginia or Washington, DC; travel up to 25%.

Salary: $80,000–$140,000 per year, plus potential bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Support Department of the Navy audit response, remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and accounting activities.
• Research, analyze, and communicate financial reporting findings and remediation solutions.
• Review Notifications of Findings and Recommendations, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans.
• Update corrective action plans and create milestones aligned with the Audit Roadmap.
• Use data analysis technology to analyze financial information and reporting requirements.
• Direct and review Senior Associate work while communicating project status to team leads and clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least four years of progressive relevant experience.
• Active Interim Secret Clearance or higher and U.S. citizenship are required.
• Experience with Federal Government or Department of Defense clients, federal financial statement auditing, audit remediation, and audit readiness.
• Knowledge of FASAB, OMB, Treasury, DFAS, and federal financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SharePoint, Oracle, ACL Analytics, Power BI, or Access databases.

Nice to have

• CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, or CDFM certification.
