Staff Accountant or Accounting Analyst

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Maintain the general ledger, fixed asset records, bank reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Process vendor invoices, match purchase orders, reconcile payments, and code costs to jobs and cost centers.
• Support employee expenses, credit card workflows, reimbursements, financial schedules, and management reporting.
• Prepare audit documentation and support external financial and tax audits.
• Maintain sales and use tax registrations and contribute to accounting process improvements.

Requirements

• 2+ years of tax and/or accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices.
• Experience with project-based accounting, WIP, and client billing.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems such as NetSuite, Workamajig, Deltek, Intacct, or similar.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred; CPA track or certification is preferred.

• Familiarity with time-tracking and project management systems.
• CPA track or certification.
