TL;DR
College Access Advisor (Harlandale) (Higher Education): Advising high school students and families on college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, testing, career exploration, and workforce pathways with an accent on student counseling, school-district partnerships, and postsecondary outreach. Focus on coordinating events and workshops, supporting K-8 and high school programs, interpreting enrollment documents, and creating data reports to evaluate program outcomes.

Location: San Antonio, Texas; in-person work across multiple campuses. The role requires at least 40 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, peak periods, and travel.

What you will do

  • Advise high school students and families on college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, testing, applications, and career options.
  • Help students create college timelines and complete enrollment, scholarship, financial aid, testing, and transcript requirements.
  • Build relationships with school-district principals, counselors, teachers, students, families, and community partners.
  • Visit classrooms and organize group events, workshops, assemblies, and outreach activities promoting postsecondary education and workforce pathways.
  • Support K-8 outreach and help develop a college-going culture across participating schools.
  • Collect and interpret program data, prepare monthly reports and end-of-year presentations, and evaluate outcomes with university and district staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Ability to work with K-8 youth, high school students, and families.
  • Presentation facilitation and public-speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet software, plus Canva or comparable marketing-material tools.
  • Ability to learn technology systems such as Banner and Idealogic, follow written and oral instructions, multitask, and work cooperatively.
  • Willingness to work in person across multiple campuses, including evenings, weekends, peak periods, and required travel.
