Quality Manager (Food Safety) (Food Manufacturing): Leading plant-wide quality and food safety programs for a manufacturing site with an accent on regulatory compliance, audit readiness, sanitation, and continuous improvement. Focus on managing quality teams, implementing HACCP and FSSC 22000 standards, reducing consumer complaints, and driving digital and automation initiatives.

Location: Kendallville, Indiana, United States; onsite manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment. Availability is required to support a 24-hour, 7-day operation during critical issues.

Salary: $89,800–$112,200 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead the plant quality organization, including laboratory, quality compliance, sanitation, quality supervision, and quality engineering teams.
  • Develop and execute quality and food safety strategies, KPIs, work instructions, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions, consumer complaint reduction, hold reduction, sanitation execution, and root-cause analysis programs.
  • Lead internal and external audits and serve as the primary plant liaison with regulatory agencies including the FDA and CFIA.
  • Maintain GMPs, HACCP, prerequisite programs, FSQ permits, licenses, records, testing, sampling, and sanitation controls.
  • Partner with corporate, plant leadership, R&D, suppliers, and vendors on commercialization, automation, digital solutions, and manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with coaching, development, performance management, and conflict management.
  • Strong knowledge of GFSI and FSSC 22000 requirements, with experience facilitating audits.
  • Understanding of SPC, HACCP, sanitation, analytical and microbiology testing, and hygienic design principles.
  • Project management skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, ERP, and quality systems; SAP and Infinity are preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing plant and provide support for critical issues across a 24-hour, 7-day operation.
