Software Architect (Embedded Systems)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid work with 3–4 days on-site at the primary office. Occasional travel of approximately 10–15% is required.

What you will do

• Define technical requirements, architectural standards, emulation roadmaps, and shift-left development practices.
• Lead cross-functional development of early-stage embedded software and serve as a technical authority for virtual platforms.
• Design virtual platform configurations with Synopsys Virtual Platform, QEMU, and SIMICS.
• Develop hardware/software co-emulation frameworks using ZEBU, HAPS, and related hardware accelerators.
• Build CI and testing automation, debug system-level issues, and ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Enable customer emulation environments, support proof-of-concept demonstrations, and incorporate customer feedback into product roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience and 3+ years in technical leadership or team lead roles.
• Professional experience in embedded systems or the semiconductor industry.
• Deep hands-on experience with Synopsys Virtual Platform, QEMU, and SIMICS; working knowledge of Synopsys ZEBU, HAPS, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with C/C++, Python, Shell scripting, ARM or RISC-V architectures, Linux kernel, RTOS environments, bootloaders, and device drivers.
• Knowledge of shift-left development, CI/CD, agile/Scrum, and strong technical communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
